Watch: Burglar Smashes Way Into Long Island Business Before Fleeing With Cash

Police are asking for the public’s help after a man smashed his way into a Long Island business before fleeing with a wad of cash.

Police are investigating after a man broke into Ahuva’s Grill on Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence and stole more than $500 in cash early Monday morning, Feb. 13.

Police are investigating after a man broke into Ahuva’s Grill on Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence and stole more than $500 in cash early Monday morning, Feb. 13.

The break-in occurred at around 3:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in North Lawrence, at Ahuva’s Grill on Rockaway Turnpike, according to Nassau County Police.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect either shooting or using a tool to break a front window before entering the business. He then stole approximately $500 from the cash register and another $20 from a tip jar, police said.

The man was last seen fleeing on foot heading northbound on Rockaway Turnpike.

Police described the suspect as a light-skinned man, approximately 6 feet tall with a heavy build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, red and black sneakers, gloves, and a black face mask.
